Testimonials

Parent

"My daughter hit the jackpot with Celine's innovative writing mentorship program. As an educator myself, I know kids learn best from more experienced peers who can translate materials into their own language and capitalize on shared narratives. My daughter could more easily envision herself as a writer when Celine offered herself as an accessible model. Celine's class gave writing more meaning and purpose by contextualizing, extending, and deepening the basic skills learned in the classroom."

It was fun talking to my daughter about the workshop. She genuinely got excited when she started talking about it.

"Celine was easy to understand, kind, caring, and thoughtful. I think kids all over the world should join this class because she thought of very creative prompts and made the class entertaining and fun. I appreciated my time with her and hope that more people will be able to find joy in the writing experience like I did."

"Celine's summer writing camps helped my sons excel during the pandemic and now they are in the fifth grade and continue to excel due to Celine's writing techniques. Celine made it fun to learn and inspire the boys to assist their peers to excel as well. All of our kids should work together to assist their peers with catching up and succeed in their studies!"

Student

"My favorite part of the writing workshop with Celine was the opportunity to learn about different countries by researching and writing about them! The writing workshop was also helpful with learning punctuation, spelling, and grammar. Celine was a really helpful teacher!"

In the Spotlight

The story of GLOW International hit the press in the Hollywood Star News' February publication. Check it out here on p. 17:

We're glad that families feel good about our program. But we also know that our program does good too.

Science says so.

A study from the California Association of School Psychologists found that mentoring of school-age children has a measurably positive effect on students' self-esteem (Claro 2021).

Another study from the Center for Creative Leadership emphasized the value of art-based mentoring programs; "art teaches us about ourselves." The researchers also noted that writing programs offer "avenue[s] of self-expression, opportunities to meet across difference, and opportunities to try on new roles" (Ehrlich, et al. 2017).

In a time when school-age children face numerous learning obstacles ranging from COVID setbacks to socioeconomic disadvantages, GLOW International provides small-group mentoring to kids, which is the most effective way to foster learning. We believe that our program has the potential to promote large-scale literacy.

It all starts with you.
